Melissa Marie Hernandez has spent her life seeing the world through the lens of a camera. From coast-to-coast travels across the United States to the vibrant streets of Hong Kong, her creative journey began in childhood with the certainty that she was meant to be an artist. She later attended the Community College of Philadelphia and Moore College of Art & Design, where she studied fine art and photography.
For more than 20 years, Melissa has been a force in the creative industry. A published photographer, her work has appeared in major publications and campaigns, and she has collaborated with a wide range of clients including Macy’s, Farfetch, DFA Records, Drexel University, the University of Delaware, Beasley Allen Law Firm, AD News, Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia, and Condé Nast.
Her photography has been featured internationally, including contributions to FOTOFOLIO, an underground black-and-white journal curated by renowned photographer Gusmano Cesaretti and featured throughout Europe and Asia.
When COVID-19 reshaped the world, Melissa followed a new artistic calling. After taking a couple welding classes, she felt an immediate connection to metal as a creative medium. This led her to join a metal fabrication apprenticeship, and four years later she is now becoming a journeyman welder and metal artist. Over the past five years, Melissa has devoted herself to metalwork, using her business, MELTWELDING.COM, to share her sculptures, custom pieces, and creative vision with the world.
Melissa currently resides on the East Coast with her significant other, her dog, goat, and cats, where her roots—and her art—continue to grow.
